What is a registered dietitian or RD?

A licensed medical professional focused on how food impacts your health.

Is there a difference between a registered dietitian and a nutritionist?

We thought you’d never ask! A registered dietitian has completed a 4 year or, commonly, an advanced degree in nutrition + has completed a minimum of 1,000 hours supervised practice + has passed a national exam + meets specific annual continuing education requirements + holds a license in each state of practice…that’s a lot! Some "nutritionists" have been through rigorous training programs. Though, a “nutritionist” may or may not have a background in nutrition, in many states, there is no specific set of standards to be able to use that term. Yikes!

What are sessions like?

Easy! We will talk about your food preferences and your health goals. Then, set a course of action to make it all fit into your schedule so you can feel confident in your food choices.

How often are sessions?

We find that most clients benefit from weekly sessions at first while working on active goal setting and then continue weekly or transistion to less frequent visits. You and your dietitian will create a schedule of appointments together depending on your individual needs and overall health goals.

Why should I schedule a telehealth appointment with a registered dietitian?

Our nutrition experts are here to help you reach your health goals through the foods you eat. Neat, right?

What is a “body-positive” dietitian?

Negative beliefs around body size and weight don’t belong in our culture and certainly don’t belong in your health appointments. Our dietitians use their big brains to know that your health is not dependent on your size.

Will my dietitian start me on diet pills or detox teas?

Never! We focus on food that you enjoy.

Is my appointment covered by my health insurance?

This depends on your insurance plan and anticipated service. We are in network with Blue Cross, Cigna, and Medicare. Contact us with questions about your specific coverage. If your plan is not within our network, we will provide you with a Superbill for possible reimbursement.

What is a Superbill?

After paying for your appointment, this form contains the necessary info that allows you to seek reimbursement from your health insurance company. Many insurance plans will reimburse you for your appointment. However, reimbursement is not guaranteed and is reviewed by your individual insurance company.

I don’t live in one of the states mentioned on your site, can I still book an appointment?

No. Nothing personal! Due to licensing laws in each state, we are able to provide services to adults in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Virginia, and Wisconsin at the time of their appointment.

How much $$ do your services cost?

$140 for your initial 60 minute session. The length of your follow-up visits will depend on your individual needs. Follow-up visits are $140 for 50 minutes and $85 for 25 minutes.
